The Research Project

Innovation

Upon completion, commercially available biogas plants are typically dedicated to the selected site for their entire operational lifetime because of the manner in which they are constructed. In practice, changes associated with the supply of raw materials, heat recovery, the operators themselves, etc. often lead to premature failure of the project.

To overcome this problem, there have been attempts to design transportable biogas plants which are able to be relocated without great expense and effort.

Tying in with this idea, the beautiful landscape of the Fichtelgebirge in Arzberg-Bergnersreuth (Bavaria) provided the idyllic setting of a research project for the development, design, manufacture, research and optimization of a modular compact biogas plant using the container design principle.

A project carried out with the participation of priority regional companies to strengthen rural areas and contribute to the maintenance and creation of jobs in the region.

During the operation of the prototype system, the emphasis was on the optimization of the system’s biological processes and technical procedures using 100% agricultural waste materials.
